Whatever the meaning of life is I would like to drink cold beer after a work day or drink a delicious coffee.

There are different explanations about whats virtuous or pleasurable. But you only have pleasure and virtue. One can't entierly live on virtue, one needs his portion of pleasure.

You talk about balance finding a equilibrium but other philosophers probably think different. Some religions ban pleasure in the name of God. Virtue is good but what is it really? In a universe of trillion planets an organisms understanding of virtue. Is that the meaning of life?

If you know Aristoteles, Socrates and Platon you know much philosophy said my teacher. The middlepath is one perspective. You won't find an answer unless you search and seek, there is no one who wants evil except the Devils, otherwise we would implode and collapse as humanity. Religions don't forbid good and pleasure. There is just Ignorance. The problem is ignorance.

Theres something known as the three poisons in Buddhism which is universal, they are ignorance, hate/anger and desire.
