Sue Ellen's Psychologist

In Dallas it was Dr Ellby. Sometimes I wondered if he was a kind of Zen devotee who waited to steer his patients towards "balance".
The sessions tend to show Sue Ellen pacing Dr Ellby's office talking about her marriage problems and the other men she slept with. Given the Ewings were worth millions, he must have been well paid.
In the 1970s, you often get psychologists in TV shows or films. Always very well dressed. You get the impression it was more fashionable back then.
I saw a psychiatrist once in my life - young, female and attractive. At the time I was a terrible mess. The third session, she switched roles and became the patient instead. She told me her decision to be a Doctor had been a terrible mistake. She told me the patients only ever talked about themselves and nobody else.

To add, the stars in Dallas got 25,000 dollars an episode. JR and Jock are dead now.
So is Dr Ellby although he starred in The Silent Flute with David Carradine.

Found out today Ray Krebs is worth three million. And he's been active on screen since Dallas. Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) is a lot wealthier.
It was Dr Elby that made me think about that type of psychologist. In Dallas, Elby combined being a PHd with a spiritual perspective of teaching balance and self-awareness. Sue Ellen's problem was she was insecure, unhappily married to J.R. and pressured by her family. So she drank. I had a female friend just the same years ago in Spain called Rosa. Married into money but was unhappy and drank. She loved my company as she could talk in English in public and seem more important. And occasionally she told me her problems. I was once also targeted sexually by a very attractive female teacher from Barcelona but clearly neurotic. She came to visit in a big raincoat and then took it off to reveal a sort of call-girl outfit. Yes, my eyes popped out as beneath the very prim and proper public image was a very sexually imaginative woman. Very typical of what might have happened to Dr Elby in Dallas perhaps.
These days my field is far more clinical but possibly the psychologists Elby represent make a very good income.

What if you found out about the transgenderism in entertainment, and did some transvestigations on your favorite stars?

What if you saw for yourself that male-to-female (MTF) and female-to-male (FTM) persons are the norm in entertainment . . . would you still be fascinated with these persons?

Don't upset Richard!
However, don't see the point in your question. I sort of grew up when Dallas was a huge TV show and I tend to be nostalgic. It's an experience to watch it all again and detach from the modern world of hyperchondria and doom and gloom.
Dallas was trash but "good trash". And Sue Ellen was accused of being "a drunk, a tramp and an unfit mother."
