Website about mastery of the self and reaching dreams

Postby RagsToRich » Fri Jan 08, 2010 9:01 am

Hi all,

My website is about realising your desires and making huge positive changes in your life using techniques such as meditation, visualisations, NLP and the other facilities of the human mind.

I focus particularly on topics concerning learning how to cope with and understand your emotions.

Mainly I am concerned with techniques which I have used myself and which I have experienced having a tangible and useful effect.

Criticism highly appreciated!

Cheers,
Rich

Funniliy enough I've just started a four part series on emotional mastery which will outline all the best ways I have found over the last 3 years in order to manage and understand emotions.

on your diet blog, why do you describe pasta, rice, bread etc as 'empty' carbohydrates to be avoided? i've always understood that whole-wheat or complex carbohydrates were good sources of slow-release energy, suitable for anyone other than those who might be allergic to this food group.

cheers.

They are good for high-performance athletes who do lots of physical activity, or for people looking to eat very cheaply. In other words, they are a healthy way of getting tons of calories (healthier than eating tons of butter or a bag of sugar - which are also empty calories)

Why?

Because they have a lot of energy in a small/cheap ammount of food.

On the other hand if you are regular person who doesn't want to eat excessive calories (and get fatter) then you're much better off consuming nutrient dense foods such as berries, fish, vedgetables, etc.

Some cereals are good because they are havily fortified with vitamins, but 99% of the cereals on the market are also designed for maximum taste, rather than health, and therefore contain lots of sugar and other nasty stuff.

So in summary -

They are empty calories, but yes, they are probably one of the more healthy forms of empty calories.

They are not intrinsically unhealthy or bad for you - it's just that while you're eating tons of calories (bread, pasta, rice), why not get a ton of nutrients with them too? (blueberries, oranges, carrots)[/u]

fair enough, cheers for your response.
i work a physical job and lift weights to bulk up...so i try and include complex carbs through the day. i also go by the hypoglycemic diet so i try to get all the vitamins and minerals etc.

Hello,

I really like your articles, it is really hard sometimes to get control over your emotions, just when you think all is good, something comes up and bites you on the bum!
Although I have to say, I agree with above post about empty calories. I thought empty calories were things which provided calories but no nutrients like sugar and alcohol. Complex carbs like brown rice, quinoa, barley etc have got significant amount of nutrients like B vits, protein etc etc.
Although I agree that any white bread, pasta etc is awful - no better than a bowl of sugar!!!

Brown bread may not, for example, be strictly classed as empty carbohydrates.

However, compared to the nutrient density of berries it's pretty empty.

I can, by the way, guarenty the effectiveness of the diet I posted - ;)
