Anxiety while eating as well as thinking of eating food

Postby boyangk » Mon Jan 27, 2014 4:27 pm

Hello everyone,

I am suffering from 'real' anxiety while eating as well as thinking of eating. So here it is, I am perfectly healthy 29 year old man having problems doing something so natural as eating food.
It's not that I don't have appetite or something; I just get really paranoid when it comes to eating food. It's like whatever I put in mouth there is a huge risk of choking or who knows what. It's just so frustrating.
I want to know what is causing all that.

Any comments, suggestions are very welcomed.

To elaborate on the topic. I gave up drinking alcohol whatsoever 1 year and a couple of months ago because it was causing me problems. It's not that I was alcohol dependent but I was drinking more than usual.
I used to have some bad thoughts while eating even before I stopped drinking.
Is this a 'delayed' reaction of stopping alcohol?
Is it because of the whole lifestyle change?

So I went to see a psychiatrist and was prescribed anti psychotic pills. 1 week after I am eating a bit but the crazy paranoia is still here to stay.

Any comments, suggestions are very welcomed.

So first of all eating is not natural. Actually it's a compulsion. Just like doing many other things like typing on a keyboard or speaking with others. Doing nothing is the best way to recover from this illness!
Good luck.

Hi, This reminds me of when I quit smoking cigarettes. I used to imagine the cigarette with a worm coming out of it or dropped into something unpleasant. I think you need to do this in reverse. Use your imagination until you can get calm thinking of food. I can't exactly relate to your problem as I have the absolute opposite effect around food. I image it is like the greatest thing in the world, more pleasurable than a lot of drugs, I fantasize about food and how great a fast food burger (with fries and a Coke) would taste. Yes I have a food addiction. Maybe we can learn something from each other being opposites. Good luck to you.

This can really lead to severe problems. Were you diagnosed as anorexic? I guess it will help if you will tag along a buddy whenever you are eating. This helps, especially if the person you are with is understanding and very patient.

Today, many kinds of can be found in and strategic places, stores, railway and flight stations, etc. It appears that fast-food restaurants are popular and more healthy all of the international branded restaurants such as KFC, pizza hut and McDonald grow quickly from 1 city to another all over the world, however, there are lots of causes and impacts of the viability of fast-food restaurant and fast food.
