This became a bit of a chill-out passtime for me. All you do is watch actors with a slightly critical eye. Some are terrific, some have bad feedback and some are awful. Not that I could act, of course, or that I seek to take the proverbial p++s out of those who, at least, gained success.
Still, a few examples:
"Heather Langenkamp has not gotten better at acting in the previous 10 years since the original, and she’s again asked to carry this movie."
I looked her up, after watching the 1984 Nightmare On Elm Street. Somehow, she just seemed to me not real in her delivery. You see even worse examples amongst extras. Guys who simply have to shout, "Hey, where did that guy come from?" Anyway, I thought Heather was "easy on the eye" but as wooden as an oak door.
Then, there is terrible over-acting. This often happens in old horror movies. I thought the acting in the black and white "Horror Hotel" was awful beyond belief. The leading actress seemed to rote-read her lines, with no intonation or "feel". Even worse, the church minister who chronically overacts.
"Leave this place! Leave this place!"
It always seems the remaining actors perform far better. A young Christopher Lee is in the movie.
I found a clip of the church minister in full throttle in this clip:
