The strange thing is some nights I can sleep though I drink enormous amounts of green tea it doesn't do much mentally noticeable. It's interesting. Lately it's anti sleep effects are more.

It can be very frustrating finding out what helps you sleep and what doesn't. I was taking higher-than-prescribed doses of Pregabalin + Clonazepam in emergencies and my therapist told me to reign it in. For the past week I've taken just the recommended dose of Pregabalin, had a few bad nights but have been sleeping better for the last two nights.

Last night we went out for dinner and I had two glasses of wine. Took my P when we got home and was drifting off while we were watching TV, so went to bed and had a good night. Other times alcohol has been stimulating and I don't sleep at all.

I think it's best to keep experimenting until we find what works. Relaxation tapes are nice but don't help me sleep. It often feels like I need to smack my own head with a brick, so I know how frustrating it is to be lying awake all night when you have to work next day. Even if you don't have to be anywhere, the day after a bad night is horrible.

If this is a long-term issue for you, it's not surprising you get worried about forgetting things. I get muddled, too.

lately ı notice my sleep is better if ı dont drink green tea before sleep time. I mean after 19:00. About drugs ın the past ı tried seroquel, unisom, atarax none havent worked even a little..ı tried gnc natra sl supplement ıt hasnt worked too. My insomnia is treatment resistant ı think. The only thing that may work is reducing caffeine that ı took tons. Actually ı worry drinking so much green tea may have a toll on my body seriously. Anyways hearing from you was nice candid ı feel crap today and tomorrow there is work..

Handy to know. Maybe it's relaxing earlier in the day but then the caffeine gets to you. Stopping at 19:00 makes good sense if that's the case. I have an only-till-noon rule about coffee.

I know the feeling! Last year my chronic insomnia became acute. My doctors gave me Zolpidem which knocked me out for a couple of hours, then I was awake soon after midnight and didn't get back to sleep. Then they tried Zopiclone, which didn't work at all and had horrible side-effects. I only took that once.

The only thing that may work is reducing caffeine that ı took tons.

Yes, you can't expect to sleep if you do that. Trouble is, if you need to go to work after a night with little or no sleep, you have to do something to wake yourself up, don't you? That's how I met Zeki. For a while we were both at the same coffee shop getting our 'fixes' of caffeine before heading for work. He seems to be okay having it every weekday, but he's younger than both of us. These poisons -- and they are poisons -- accumulate over years. You can get an allergy to them, as well. I'm sure I've shown you this http://www.doctoryourself.com/caffeine_allergy.html before. You have the symptoms of caffeine allergy; I have, too.

ı feel crap today and tomorrow there is work..

I hope you'll sleep tonight, desperate. Along with reducing caffeine, you could try getting some vigorous exercise. I'm talking to myself here, too. :P

yes a good night's sleep is wonderful. I sometimes sleep like a baby and those nights are great. Caffeine allergy is a source of worry hope its nothing serious. Im getting old not suitable for exercise ı cant even run for a seconds to catch bus. I think the time for exercise for me is over.

I agree, it's great when it happens. I'm a worrier too... not as much as you, but obviously something keeps me awake. I can keep it away by staying busy during the day, but when I want to sleep it all comes up and I can't stop it.

It's a good aim. I once gave up coffee and cigarettes for about a month while water-fasting. It felt fantastic -- so why oh why did I start it all up again??

You're 20 years younger than I am. It's way too early for you to call yourself old and give up on exercising. I have a walking problem since my brain injury three years ago but I walk when I can.

What about you and I make a plan to get fit together?

I wouldn't dream of telling you what to do!

Water fasting is like anything else, it works well for some people but has bad effects on others. And with any kind of 'fad' regime, what works for a teenager may be horrible for the same person 40 years later... as I found out re. water fasting.

Seems you weren't around when I acquired my brain injury in 2015. The medical people said I would be affected for up to 18 months, but three years later I believe things have got worse over time. My present therapist said that at my age I can't expect my cognitive function to return to what it was before I flew off my pushbike and landed on my head, but I try to be optimistic. I'm a survivor of several disasters, so I'll lick this one yet

I guess each of us has to figure out what works and what doesn't. I like to experiment on myself... it's fun.
