Hypnotic Pain Control is not reliant on the release of 'pain killing' chemicals.

This makes sense if other research suggesting the pain signal being interrupted as it moves through the brain is the reason for the loss of pain - gate theory.

Please will the Gods of science funding stop giving it to the delusional. I see absolutely no benefits to these experiments other than to give the researchers the opportunity to play with hypnosis. Maybe if I got a white coat I could get my research funded.

I am not trained in hypnosis but went through it for several years because of I was suffering from DID (Dissociative Indentity Dissorder) or commonly called multiple personality dissorder, a form of PTSD. My therapist was a licensed hypnosist in the state of California.

I had tried other therapists without getting any help. I can only talk about the two years I spent working with this therapist and the help I was able to get that no other therapy offered. It worked. I successfuly integrated and no longer have DID.

I do not have to read papers to know this form of therapy works. It does. It gave me back my life. It was not covered by any medical plan that I had and I did not care. I paid the whole thing out of my salary and it was worth it every cent and more.

Thank you for offering information about this important form of therapy.

I may be being pedantic, but can I request that we remove all posts from this thread that don't go along with the opening post:

This is the place to post scientific papers and discuss studies concerning hypnosis.

Yes, that includes this one!

Frustratingly non-scientific article, but adds to the debate nonetheless.

Heres a lab study I find highly interesting
http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/conten ... a790230579
not only did they manage to replicate the state people experience on heroin, they managed to replicate the withdrawal as well as reverse the effects of people actually on heroin. People go through great lengths to get themselves off heroin, I bet if they learned to anchor the state they would never take the stuff again.
