Depressed after my suicide attempt

Postby Helpme2017 » Sun Sep 24, 2017 7:32 pm

So I jumped off a bridge on Monday in an attempt to end my life (I survived, but with 2 broken vertebrae and a weeks hospital stay) and have had on-off depression since.

I'm still in hospital now, and right now I'm feeling this way and have so for the past hour and a half. I'm also feeling fairly lonely which doesn't help.

I spoke to the mental health doctor at the hospital and if I hadn't, I would have been discharged on Thursday (whereas now I have to stay until Monday with a 20% chance of Tuesday). As far as I know, they're coming up with a plan for when I get home but that doesn't help now.

I got discharged on Monday evening, and I haven’t stopped crying much since. I just feel so depressed and anxious and it’s making me ill and want to hurt myself. Everything at home is stressful again, and my only escape is college but I’m not allowed to go back for 2 weeks.

I’m fed up and just want to die.

Put the suicide attempt behind you-it doesn't have to rule your future - what matters is today. think about your positives-i know you have them. We depressed people love to contemplate on the negatives and minimize the positives - its not as bad as we tend to see it. it shall pass.

The past is set in stone and we can't run from it, but the future is not and we can choose how we live it. We can bury our heads or make plans. I've been humiliated and disgraced and I've attempted suicide. But the future is there and I can choose how i live it. Most people do the same thing over and over again. The future is friendly, people don't remember the past when they see you.

One thought that helps me is to know that we are small parts of other people's lives, and if you really think about their lives, you will find that they don't think about us very often. That put a yoke off my head and gave me freedom.
