Been reading various comments on Russian forums. These are mostly back and forth accusations between pro Zelenskiy and pro Putin supporters. Both sides seem to believe each is right.
Artists, actors and cultural celebrities in Russia have denounced the war. This upset many people. However, maybe 50 per cent Russians oppose the war. Others feel it will just create more hate.
They say in every conflict, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. There has indeed been an ongoing civil war in East Ukraine where countless Russians died. It does seem too that Kiev planned a new nuclear capability. Ultimately they want Crimea back. However, Putin has a record of totalitarianism, arresting Jehovas Witnesses and slandering gays and lesbians. Hence the fierce opposition. And the EU, of course, fanned the flames. Russia should have been offered some security treaty to ease tensions but the E.U. didn't budge. So, views in that region are radicalised.
