Ecstasy and Emotion

Postby Informal Sausage » Thu Aug 29, 2013 12:40 pm

Hi,

I'm currently recovering from a long term addiction to weed, but in the past I ingested a huge amount of ecstasy. I've done some rough calculations based on my old habits and I think I must have gone through at least 3000 pills in roughly 4 years. I stopped taking ecstasy in 2003, but I often find my emotional responses seem to be either lacking or out of context.

Anyone know about any research into long term effects of ecstasy use?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I decimated my serotonin production capacity, I often think my brain must look something like the photos of downtown Berlin after WW2.

That's nothing. I'm convinced my amygdala has collapsed (like a deflated balloon) from overwork and obliterated my hippocampus. They don't make pills for that!

Ouch, I think you're going to need to buy a new limbic system. I bet you could get a good deal on e-bay, watch out for the second hand ones though.

I use to have some really scary experiences after using ecstacy. Going back a few years the side affects were very strange. The main ones were sudden lapses of time and where i was. They only lasted a few seconds, but enough to think what the hell happened there. I used to also leave my body when sleeping and feel like i was fitting or something which was scary. Looking down at youself on your bed was not normal but this happened often. I used also get suddenly woke up in a panick as a voice would shout really loud and wake me. I was alone though so also not very nice.

I still now have wierd dreams where what ive said above happen in my dream.
I think to this day my nervous system was badly affected and still think it is but not as bad.

Was it all worth it though... i think it was because the times i had on ecstacy were simply brilliant

Oh god, I have had one out of body experience on ecstasy, I remember the experience well, I had this feeling of floating downwards, but parallel to my bed and I could see these mad shapes, later I found out it was the pattern of my duvet but seen from the inside. I proceeded to float upwards and then turned around, I remember slowly noticing that I was actually watching myself in bed, then I realised what was happening and sort of shot back in to my body and sprang awake. It was pretty intense.

Had loads of trippy moments on E though, especially when trying to go to sleep after a session. Jesus.

I hear you Clayton,

Used to take loads of different pills, they were all very unique in the trips and feelings I got. Probably the most crazy ones I ever had we're these big blue ones called blue dolphins. My god, the only thing which has ever made me trip that much since then were Amsterdam's most powerful truffles. Even acid wasn't as intense as blue dolphins, I'm pretty sure they were heavy on ketamine.

Long term effects needs long term treatments. you need to visit a profession, maybe need to use some medicine , it's not easy to understand your general status from long distance .
And it's obvious and so sad that you've already lost too many of your brain cell. In this case some physical activities can recover it in case you are under 30years old!
Wish you feel well sooner

Hopefully the effects will wear off with time as your brain gets back to equilibrium. We all have amazing healing capacity. As a therapist, I had a client who was constantly high for 15 years and lost most of his memories of that period. Eventually, over a period of a few months, the fog cleared and he got energized and motivated to completely change his life. Hypnosis and EMDR helped.

You can heal your brain and the burned out synapses. Practice being especially attentive and feeling as strongly as you can. Watch funny or touching movies, get into nature and feel the sun and wind, allow yourself to feel love and connection to your important people. Meditate, eat well, sleep deeply and pay attention to your dream.

Have fun.
