Fear of public speaking gets annoying after a while

Postby dav1307 » Tue May 06, 2014 9:26 am

Ya know? I think psychologically, the fear of public speaking comes from not being totally in your own reality. It's kinda like a shield or boundary that those of us lack. I'm slowly but surely building that up simply b/c of how annoying this gets after enough years. Shield might be a bad word, more like you're able to still be yourself in those situations with groups of people. Like you're grounded.

For those that have gotten over the fear, please share your thoughts on the psychological differences and changes you have.

Letting go of fear is possible, the consequences of doing so are numerous and working through those is actually the bigger deal.

When we let go of fear we tend to say what we think more, so it becomes really important to condition ourselves to be really nice about everybody, really gentle with everybody, and really sure about what we love to do.

When fear is dissolved, why do we get up in the morning? Why do we stay with our friendship group? Why do we eat well? Why do we avoid drugs or drink?

Letting go of fear opens the doorway to many more challenges than public speaking, and it does make a person very attractive and cool.

That is an awesome response! Will take a while to ponder that. :)

I just wanna say that I have won a battle with that fear. For me the key thing was to change my attitude towards it from negative to positive one. I have decided to fight back to that fear because the only way to actually conquer that fear is to fight him back. Note, I had to embarrass myself a few times but I didn't give up, plus I had problem with stammering for 16 years.

Now I am 22 years old and I love public speaking, I love to share positive energy and I love to help people. :D

Public speaking reinforced my confidence in myself. The more I do it, the more comfortable I feel with being in front of a crowd. The more comfortable I feel in front of a crowd, the more I speak publicly.
Beforehand, I was shy to confidence. I ignored or went out of my way to avoid situations.
The biggest difference before and after the fact was in HOW I controlled the nervous energy I got prior to speaking.
Accepting the feeling, and utilizing this feeling during a speech.

I deal with it by focusing in on just one friendly face from the crowd.

I can understand your position. Public speaking can be a chore to overcome. However, both public speaking and writing are of the utmost importance in the world of business (or life in general). Giving good orations make you seem and appear like an authority in whatever field you are speaking about. I found this newly designed website 1orator. 1orator is a blog and online business site that specialize in assisting individuals with overcoming their fear of public speaking. It's great and the creator offers products that strengthen your resolve to become a better speaker.
