Do I suffer from equinophobia?

Postby neelprakashbabulal » Thu Nov 09, 2017 1:08 pm

I was always very afraid. The following are some of the consequences of my fear:-

1) I have a very bad speech impediment;
2) I am always very tense, so much so that I started losing my hair when I was about 15-years-old;
3) My focus and concentration are very poor;
4) I have lots of negative emotions, eg embarrassment, humiliation, anger, resentment, low self-esteem etc
5) My relationship with other people is bad (including my wife and children);
6) I don't have friends; and
7) I always struggled financially.

My late Gran told me a long time ago, that when I was a baby or a toddler (I can't recall), a donkey brayed nearby and I was terrified. She said after that incident, even when a rooster crowed, I was terrified. Do you think this is the root of my problems?

I tried speech-therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, ENT specialists and alternative treatments like acupuncture, reflexology, reiki, past-life regression etc, but none of these helped me. I purchased "Speak Clearly" and "Fear of Money". Will they help me with my problems and enable me to lead a normal life? I am now 65-years and retired.

Kind regards,

Hi Neelprakash,

Sorry to hear that you have suffered so much and for so long.

Anxiety is a deep rooted condition for some people, and manifests in many ways, as you have described. I have no easy answers, being a sufferer myself, but I would suggest that anxiety is the issue.

It may help to start working on some relaxation strategies, including breathing exercises, slowly gaining control of the discomforts and letting go a little. We have some material on this site, which may be a help.

Good thoughts,

Alex.
