Tinnitus freaking me out

Found my way here from r/leaves. Smoked weed every night weekdays, all day weekends for 35 years. Many attempts to quit. Currently at 13 weeks clean and feel like this time could be the one.

But dear god it’s hard. The acute withdrawal felt tough enough, but looking back it seems like a walk in the park compared to how things are going at this stage. I won’t list all of my symptoms, but they’re very similar to what many of you have described in your own cases.

But for me the worst thing to happen is that nearly a month ago I suddenly developed tinnitus. It varies in intensity and is sometimes accompanied by blurry vision, headaches and a feeling of pressure in my head. The ear clinic and doctor both say it’s not caused by wax and they don’t seem bothered about it. Online hearing tests suggest I have no hearing loss. It’s conceivable that it’s a side effect of the Covid jab - I’ve read that tinnitus is a side effect in some people from
both the virus and the injection. Whatever the reason, it’s freaking me out. I read stuff telling me it’s permanent and that there’s no cure. But I take hope from accounts of people who’ve quit weed and have experienced tinnitus as a temporary side effect.

I guess I’m basically looking for some assurance that this rollercoaster I’m on is going to get better. In the context of 35 years of abuse, you have to say 13 weeks is a drop in the ocean. So it’s perhaps no surprise I’m suffering, and I understand from some accounts that it can take a good 6 months to properly turn the corner. My life is not a constant nightmare - don’t want to give the wrong impression - but I’m learning that truly getting free from weed is about so much more than simply not using it.
