Self hypnosis recordings

It does bring up an interesting point - about our own negative thoughts - We are told that our suggestions should be positive - but on the other hand, negative suggestions to ourselves are easily accepted?

I know it's a simplistic or maybe even spurious distinction but perhaps we should be saying "I look like an backside when I smoke" or "I'm an idiot to eat that much" or "What plonker doesn't do loads of exercise?".

Would these suggestions be more readily received?

. hmm
(n.b - one of the words above has been replaced which makes the phrase look a bit strange - in Britain it's considered acceptable language but I think the forum code was written in the U.S.)

Ive tried to make my own recordings but just dont go under. I have used a recording for public speaking off the web and it works every time. I have no trouble hypnotising anyone thats interested so i must second guess my own induction. I dont want to listen to the recording that i have without being hypnotised because it also makes you feel damn good. does anyone have a killer self hypno induction that may work?

I seem to have trouble focusing on the programs themselves, by which I mean: Usually after a minute or so I find myself no longer listening to the suggestions, but thinking thoughts about completely unrelated things instead. This way the hypnosis becomes completely ineffective.
Is there something I can do against this? (I'd tried programs to increase focus, but since I don't focus enough for them to work... ;) )

I have noticed that I am not able to achieve a trance-like state when using guided recordings from my hypnotist.

Generally, it's because in the past I was focusing too much on what she was saying.
you know, "feel the sun shining down on you, warming your skin," etc.

My mind always goes to the fact that I don't like that sensation on my skin, or whatever the case may be.

I have much more success with a scripted recording that I make myself these days. I still am not able to get to a deeper level than light trance, something akin to reading a book or staring out the window while daydreaming.

I have much more success with meditation. That's just my experience, though.

Hello Dark

You have to know WHY you want to hypnotise yourself before self hypnosis will work.

Prosperity to us all.

Just recently listened to Hypnotica's new self hypnosis cd, Sphinx of the Imagination, wow what an experience.

It goes for about an hour and takes you on a metaphorical journey into a trance and gives suggestions on change and happiness.

I really liked this cd and haven't experienced anything like it before. I know there is some scepticism about the level of hypnosis that self hypnosis cds are capable of achieving however I was definately in hypnosis.

The only thing I didn't like about the cd was the suggestions (about 2 or 3 times) stating remember who gave you this story, HYPNOTICA, lol.

Has anybody else used this self hypnosis cd or any of hypnoticas other stuff?

Supposing I basically feel that I can put myself under i.e. into hypnotic trance fairly easily,
Is it still worthwhile to buy self hypnosis cds by merit of the suggestions they use or am I just as well using my own suggestions?
I sometimes find hypnosis cds quite irritating particuarly Dick Sutphen ones.

Thanks from

But why 'under'? Don't you feel you are in wonderful state of relaxation? Do you feel you are under something? I don't feel like that.

If we are exact, nobody is under anything.

Can anyone recommend a good book on self hypnosis? Most of the ones I've seen advocate recording your own script which doesn't work for me very well.
