Maximizing Your Toastmasters Experience

Some people have commented that Toastmasters can get "boring."

Here are some solutions:

1. there are many manuals to complete: you'll never run out of speeches. Once you finish the basic manual, there are tons of "advanced" manuals. Finishing manuals earn you designations similar to military ranks.
2. join yearly contests in: evaluation, humorous, prepared speech
3. visit other clubs to give speeches
4. visit other clubs to meet new people
5. attend club, area, division and district contests: see the great speakers compete
6. give presentations in Toastmasters officer training & district conferences
7. volunteer and/or attend the annual conventions (people from all over the world compete)
8. mentor a new member
9. strive to one of the best evaluator or speaker in your club
10. volunteer for speaking opportunities in your other organizations. your library, bookstore
11. coach your pastor/priest in effective speaking, organization and delivery
12. if your club becomes stale, leave the club and join another club; membership is like working for an employer: you can choose to leave your employer and work for another employer
13. join 2 clubs and visit other clubs as well
14. develop deep friendships among club members; one person dated and married another member
15. if looking for a job, network by visiting other clubs
16. serve as officer in club, area, division and district level
17. mentor a new member (officially or unofficially)
18. be a resource and expert on a specific area

Hope these helps.

I am a Toastmasters for 20 years.
