I am practising these too to help control my anger.
Try taking deep breaths before your anger takes complete control over you, or count to ten.
Meditation really really helps, a lot. You could meditate on the sunrise, or ocean waves, or say a prayer over and over, even for 10 minutes a day, and that would make a difference. Other thoughts may come to mind, just brush them off, and continue to concentrate on the calming thought you have picked for yourself. A half-hour meditation session, with just 2 minutes of for example, prayer, will give you peace of mind.
The best way to deal with anything that makes you angry is to try and figure out what is actually bugging you, either make that a thing of the past and ignore it, or find a solution.
