My boyfriend is really scaring me...I don't know what to do

He has Irritable Bowel Syndrome, some kinda anxiety disorder, really bad stomach problems (he is sick almost every day), and a bunch of other problems, so he is on about 10 different medicines.

Saturday morning he took extra stomach medicine so he wouldn't get sick on a trip we were going on. By that night (after he left my house), he was feeling really crazy and decided he wanted to look like Wolverine from X-men so he cut all of his hair off except 2 horn looking things on the sides and when he shaved he left humongus side burns. He said he was kinda halfway sleepwalking when he did it and wasn't thinking very clearly.

Saturday night, he decided he wasn't going to take his medicine and he doesn't remember why. When I called him Sunday, he was acting reallllly hyper and talking super fast. He was acting really shaky the whole day and Sunday night is when he really started freaking me out. He just got through using the bathroom and he came in the room I was in and laid down. His mama came in there and told him to fold the clothes. He made a really mean face and scrunched up his eyebrows and started talking in Latin or something and pointing at her. I seriously thought he was gonna try to hurt her. I was like "Calm down...please calm down...I'll help you fold the clothes!!" He wasn't listening to anything I said and he walked over there and grabbed a candle (the long skinny kind) and acted like he was gonna stab her with it!!

He finally calmed down a little but he was still acting really weird. He kept saying "I think I'm gonna take my medicine tonight" in a really weird voice like he was stoned. He said that same sentence at least 25 times. He ate an entire bag of oreo's and a huge solid chocolate easter bunny. I tried to take the bunny away because I didn't want him to get sick but he said "No!! Give it to me!!" I spent the night with him because I didn't think he was acting sane enough to drive. I think all of this happened because he didn't take his medicine.

Ok...sorry for making this so long but here is my question:

Has anybody ever gone through anything like this? What can I say or do to help him? He is going to see the doctor tomorrow...what should I tell him to tell the doctor? I am really worried that he is going to be like this forever. :(

Hi Sarah

You seem to have a few different problems to deal with. I can't help with all of them but I know that the IBS and stomach problems are most likely related to diet and agravated by the combination of medicines. IBS is often treated with Psyllium Fiber therapy, although you may not expect to see any significant improvement for a couple of months. It does start to settle down almost immediately though. I believe the chocolate does not help that kind of problem. By the time you read this he will have already gone to the doctor. It may have been ueeful for you to go with him to hear what the doctor had to say.
