Types of Speech

Postby WorkingDead » Wed Jan 03, 2018 10:26 am

Have you ever had difficulty determining what type of the speech you are watching is?
We are asked to determine to identify whether the following speeches are either persuasive or informative.

The first video is How to learn any language in six months by Chris Lonsdale. This video is no doubt an informative one.
However, my friends and I cannot agree on the second video. It is Why we have too few women leaders by Sheryl Sandberg. Some say it's informative, others argue it;s persuasive.

This speech gives 3 reasons why there are not many women leaders in the world, but at the same time, the speaker encourages and shows what and how women can do to help themselves.

Can anyone explain to me which one is the speech?

I appreciate your replies.

Persuasive. It states an opinion and wants you to agree.

I'd guess that it is a public advocacy just by your brief description of it.
