Interesting. Similar observations have been made in patients on very low fat diets.

Sometimes I think we forget that the brain needs glucose to feed it and fat to maintain the myelin sheath.

People who are focusing on the weight they need to lose tend to look no further than their bathroom scales when choosing a diet. I don't suppose anybody would openly say that they didn't care whether a particular diet was "healthy" or not (as long as it helped them achieve their objectives), but it doesn't seem to be a question which is often asked by dieters themselves.

On top of that, I think that beyond the simplicities of 5 fruits and vegetables a day, most people have little real idea of what a "healthy" diet is, far less what specific effects particular foods have on our bodies and brains (and I include myself, pretty much!).
