People who are focusing on the weight they need to lose tend to look no further than their bathroom scales when choosing a diet. I don't suppose anybody would openly say that they didn't care whether a particular diet was "healthy" or not (as long as it helped them achieve their objectives), but it doesn't seem to be a question which is often asked by dieters themselves.
On top of that, I think that beyond the simplicities of 5 fruits and vegetables a day, most people have little real idea of what a "healthy" diet is, far less what specific effects particular foods have on our bodies and brains (and I include myself, pretty much!).
