What you feel when you listen to music

Music is an important way of regulating one's emotions, though it is not exactly clear how this happens. Usually, when we react to something emotionally, we react to an event, that has positive or negative consequences to us. Music doesn't have consequences and it is also unlike fiction, where we can associate ourselves with characters and react emotionally as if the events in the book were happening to us. Music can't speak. And yet it speaks to us, and there are several questions - what kind of emotions does music invoke? Are they different from normal ones? Are we similar in a way we feel?

I'm researching it now and I can offer you an online psychological quiz that will tell you what you like about music and will help me to find out how similar we people are.

It's very simple and you can spend as many time on it as you wish, from 1 minute to half an hour (average - 10 minutes). Here is how it goes:

1. Select the genre that you like.
2. Listen to fragments of songs (whole pieces also available) and tell me how you felt (you just need to select from a list).
3. Get feedback on how your musical taste is different from that of other people and which emotional content you prefer in music.
4. Help researchers to collect research data!

Thank you a lot!
