my husband overdose two times in 10 days

Hi all,
My husband suffered depression and borderline personality disorder. this month he took overdose 2 times in 10 days and the latest time his life was in risk. but the mental ward here (barnstaple, North Devon) keep discharged him. it worry me sick and these couple of days I need to following him wherever he goes, because I am worry he will harm himself again. I am new in this country and his parents were on holiday in US. I don't have friends to help me keep an eyes on him. I am very under stress. He is very low mood and I found that he is not being care enough in hospital. the Doctor understand him better and treated him good has gone. I want to know is different areas in UK will treat patients differently or everywhere the same. If different area has better treatment, I need to consider to move, he is in very severe suffering, I feel so hurt and scare I will lose him. For his life sake I must look for better treatment for him immediately. Do we have the right to change Doctor to follow up his case.
He did tell the doctors that he is very low and want to harm himself and wish to stay in a ward or even a prison cell to keep him life safe, but refuse by doctor.

I need advise and help to know more about treatment in mental illness in England. I don't want him to die. I love him

From a very under stress and worrying wife

Hi Toto,

Sorry to hear about your situation, the healthcare profession here in Britain is pretty awful sadly but I would not give up, check if there are other places where your husband could go to that are close by I think it is a matter of just visiting them and seeing what you think.

You may also want to consider going private because the NHS are providing your husbands care at the moment, going private means that although you will have to pay for any treatment/ care he recieves he will be well looked after and is probably a much better alternative if it is afforadable for you.

Take Care.
