Hi all,
I have noticed that MindMaps (tm) have been mentioned a few times in here. I think MindMaps are indispensible in preparing your presentation, writing your notes for use during it - and recently even *as* the presentation material (and a part of the subject matter) I'm starting to get as bad as Buzan himself - plugging his old MindMaps at every opportunity
But seriously they really are so flexible and when it comes to public speaking...
My main point here, though, is to make a suggestion to people that like MindMaps and that given presentations using something like PowerPoint.
How often do you see boring slides in a presentation just listing key points as bullet points?
If you use a MindMapping software tool, such as MindManager, they will often have a "presentation mode" so you can use the MindMap for the presentation itself! I did this recently at a software programming conference and it went down really well! I also found that, even though I only finished putting the material together the night before I had no problem recalling my material at each point - and I could easily skip over whole branches if I was running out of time (which is prone to happen when you prepare 90 minutes of material for a 45 minute talk :-s ).
Anyway, if you have opportunity to - please try it - the novelty will also distract you from any nerves (some people voted me calmest presenter at the conference ).
Regards,
Milamber
