I don't think you're being silly, quite the opposite. It shows maturity that you don't just brush it off and understand the severity of this incident and that things could have gone allot worse. Just because nobody was hurt, doesn't mean the incident is meaningless.
As for the guilt. Luckily all you have to feel guilty over is material damages. So don't be to hard on yourself. We all make mistakes, use this experience to better yourself, to become a more defensive driver, aware of how quickly things can change.
