Legacy of Temper

Postby searching » Wed Apr 21, 2004 3:09 pm

Hi, My 5.5 yr old son and myself are a member of a list of family members w/ temper problems. Therapists and others thinks that I am uniquely qualified to help him. - Ha - THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND. I want to help him get control of the anger. I do believe the answer is not getting angry rather than the humiliation of trying to supress the reaction after you
are already there. I am looking into hypnotherapy and biofeedback.
(His level of impulsivity warrents such help.) I am also going to search
into ways to improve his self-esteem (as sug. by the prev. post)

I know that the frontal lobe is not fully developed until around 30, however,
there must be something I can do to help his life. Temper has been a ball and chain for me. I think it limited my carreer and relationships.

It is still a major effort for myself. I am looking for ways to help us both. My example is not good. I know we inherited the problem. Something beyond drugs must help it. Thanks!!!

Sorry to hear of your dilemma searching.

I will point out your post in the morning to RogerE - I'm sure he can recommend some helpful approaches, information, and assistance.
