C.S.Peirce would claim that different pains has nothing in comon but the fact that it is feeling that you try to rid yourself off. This view is supportive of the mindfullness approach to pain where you minimize your pain by way of acceptance. The feelings will be exactly the same but with less strugle to avoid it and ultimately with less negative attention.
