Do you need rapport to hypnotize someone?

I mean alot of Instant Inductions, you don't have time to build rapport, just more of the shock that puts them under with the suggestion ofcourse, right?

I've also come to the conclusion that Instant/Rapid induction styles don't matter much, its the CONFIDENCE, and PERFORMANCE that matter, am I correct?

I haven't had time to practice lately so I'm really low on the confidence part.

Anyone know of a hypnosis forum in the United States?
I'd like to meet some people whos had more hands on experience so I can see the mechanics of it all.

I can watch videos all day but seeing it in person is totally different I'm sure lol.

Thanks guys

It certainly helps yes.

Rapport can happen right at the start, even the 'hello, how are you?"
Anything that leads up to the Hypnosis can be aiding it, no matter how short your timescale. You can gain some in your pre-talk if you're using one. I believe rapport CAN happen in seconds.
I remember Richard Nongard and John Cerbone ( two Vegas Pro's) using quick little jokes and funny voices, all this I think adds to rapport.
Use the forum search function for 'Rapport', I'm sure I've seen a few threads on the subject.

Ok after reading and looking at alot of peoples material, I have come to the conclusion that all Pro Hypnotist's, back each other up.
"hype up each others material"

Don't get me wrong some are really good and others are very old and boring rehashes of the same thing over n over again.

Ok, my question is this.

I'm to the point of taking instant induction classes, for alot of money, I'm very hesitant on pulling the trigger since its money I've been saving for a new apartment.

But I do have a couple places interested in doing hypnosis shows, but its still gonna take me a while to do anything like that.

Short story:
Get 1 on 1 training from Sean Michaels Andrews for $2,500 for a 2 day 1 on 1 training.
Or group training for $1,700
*The ambush style sounds cool* (I'm guessing this is like Hypno Statue style)
Or just keep self learning (slow)

I'm learn better in person that watching and reading

Any tips or teachers who will not cost me an arm and a leg.

Thanks

Get some training in the style of hypnosis you want to do. Just doing a course in instant inductions is unlikely to give you all you need to perform.

That said I hear Sean runs good courses and if you are going to do this 1 to 1 then it might be worth asking him if he does bespoke training. To confuse you further group training is often better as you get to practice with a variety of people rather than just on your trainer.

All pro's do not back up all other pro's products. That said choosing a course can be a minefield. My advice is always choose a course that teaches the style you want to learn, choose a course where the tutuor gets paid to do what it is you want to learn. Choose a course with an emphasis on practical training. Do not choose one based on the body or org it is associated with.

Thanks Ant
I looking to just do Instant/Rapid inductions for now, and Sean seems to mostly focus on that.

Well today was a very good day, finally got a chance to practice.
Went to my sisters work place and got 4 subjects.
Needless to say I got them all under.

Did pretty well till I got to the positive hallucinations lol.
I think I should of built it up more before trying to go so big, I.E. pyramid right?

Too bad they all had boyfriends as they were all pretty hot lol

I still seem to be having problems with doing negative and positive hallucinations, but I'm thinking I'm trying to use it to fast or not building up using smaller easier tests/suggestions.

Method:
Dave Elman 1-2mins
Deepeners, staircase, also counting backwards
hand raising (ballon)
Arm lock (steel bar)
Hand stuck
Throwing in deepeners here and there like sound of my voice, your breathing, etc, makes you go deeper, also the deeper you go the better you feel, and everybody likes to feel good, etc.

Then I try the big stuff, like negative/positive hallucinations.

Do I need to deepen more or use a deepening script?

Thanks

P.S. On Sean's Dave Elman DVD, he supposedly says they go straight into Somnambulism after that induction, but I guess I'm missing something

Keep practicing and don't get bogged down if you go for phenomena and it doesn't take, some people will do great at a particular routine and not good at another and vice versa
Enjoy

There's always a big debate if a 'Trance' state really exists.
I have a DVD by Richard Nongard and on it he says that achieving negative and positive halucinations is quite difficult and requires a deep state.
I'll let you know my take on this if I ever achieve any.

I know it seems obvious, also remember that everyone is different and not everyone will drop into Hypnosis the same way with the same inductions.

From what you have told us already about your practical experiences you are well on your way to becoming a great Hypnotist already, and that's before you have sought out any training.

Hi,
I found in my experience that some people easily hallucinate and for others that's hard .
For example ; sometimes I have a subject that hallucinates and odd enough he can't dance. and when I ask him to dance the subject just stare at me. But when I say look there is a bug on you or a genius he sees it.
Some people can't see things so change your semantics and instead of say "see "something say "imagine"something and don't worry about don't some phenomeno you want. some subjects hallucinate and don't even have amnesia for number.
It depends of their minds. Also be careful when delivery your suggestion, say it as if has already done .

good lucky

Before commenting on this I would like to ask a question. How many here are in practice as therapists, and how many are using hypnosis for stage purposes?
FINALLY, HOW MANY ARE HOPING TO LEARN HYPNOSIS FROM READING HERE? Fair question I believe, since this subject is usually broached by those who know little about hypnosis and want to show off not learn.

HI Anthony,

you want the entire forum to respond before you answer, or just a few dozen of us??

Read the intro's.

For what it is worth, there is a failry even split of therapists and performers. The performers seem to contribute more frequently.
