Trying to find people in similar situations

Cleveland apparently gets picked on because he has aspergers. He was shut out of his family for the same reason.

I'm sorry he seems to have left us. Aspergers makes people speak and behave eccentrically. They can be very annoying.

Yes, I've heard about Aspergers. A form of autism. I looked it up and did a a quick review. What I noticed is that all of the symptoms are Skill Deficits. what 'normal' people do 'perfectly' the Aspergers people have some problems doing. Its a problem of Degree and not of Kind. As such, well, I can see that it can be greatly overused as a clinical diagnosis. You know, a parent takes their kid to a shrink for Evaluation, and in order to get the Insurance to pay out, well, SOMETHING has to be written in the Diagnostic Block, since Perfectly Healthy people NEVER go to the doctor, right? So Aspergers is easy to write down. Any social, physical, or speech impediment could justify the diagnosis. Who never slurs a word or two, talks in a monotone when bored or tired, knocks something off a table, is inattentive with boring acquaintances or new people that don't strike one as very interesting, etc, etc, etc. But then once Diagnosed, the poor kid has a Label that he feels he has to Live Up to. An Excuse. The Kids must give up on even Trying. "I can't be normal because I got Aspergers".

But, yes, there are forms of Autism that are difficult to get around. One of my Heroes is James Carrol Booker, probably one of the best American piano players who ever lived. But he was weird, spooky and really hard to work and socialize with. It was back before Everything was Autism in some degree, but, yes, James Booker really did not know how to navigate the Social Realm. But clumsiness wasn't a problem -- not with the piano anyway. His Fate can be very instructive. He really was the Best, but because of reliability issues and the weirdness factor, his Talent was just not worth it for managers, agents, producers, band members and everyone else who admired his genius but couldn't deal with all the rest of him. In a Perfect World there would have been a place for him where he could have just pursued Music on his own terms, and who knows what he might have left the world with. but he died at 44.

It must be harder for people who have NOTHING that they can do at a High Level. Oh, that is one of the reasons why I so detest Video Gaming. I would guess that Zillions of High Performing Autistic People are drawn to Video Games, but to the outside observer, they look just like anybody else who wastes 4 to 10 hours a day messing up their thumbs with repetitive use injuries. But they would have perhaps been able to shine with Art , Music, or even Poetry.

I'm not trying to ignore your posts. Things happened in my life.

I was never "shut out of my family". And I never claimed I was.

I have trouble communicating with people who keep putting words in my mouth.

You know what else is annoying? Having people put words in your mouth and make assumptions.

Like when Leo assumes that I'm trying to be a smartass or I'm disingenuous. I'm trying to get help with my anger so I don't KILL somebody some day. I need help, not someone who obviously isn't reading my posts trying to help me/someone putting words in my mouth and responding to sh** I never said.

Childhood is a major part of anyone's "whole life". Are you telling me now that you were not ostracized, shunned and "othered" in your family of origin?

I'm trying my hardest to understand you, but it doesn't help when you keep biting.

I didn't respond because I assumed you were talking about someone else or just going on your own tangent. I didn't know you were referring to me.

I was never shunned by my family. I was shunned by everyone else (classmates, co-workers, etc.) and by my neighborhood. My family is only two people, me and my mother who is a single mom.

I understand your aspergers gets you misunderstood very often. My husband has aspergers, too.

I was incorrect. I was NOT shunned my "whole" life. Me being shunned by humanity started after age 12 or so.

I'm glad you didn't feel rejected by your mom. I know you've had a lot of moves in your life. Do you still talk to her regularly?

Yes, I talk to her all the time, I live with her so I can take care of the house! (I'm 29 now).

What I got from your first posts is that you're in a rough area, you've been knocked about a few times and you're unable to defend yourself. In that situation I'd be angry, too.

I've spent my entire life being treated like crap by people like you. Sorry if us aspies are a bit "annoying" after suffering lifetimes of violence and abuse.

No, I'm not enjoying that you are being hurtful towards Candid. Yes, you must really have a serious case of Asperger's because you Totally misinterpreted where Candid was coming from. She was on your side. she was being empathetic and was trying to connect with you. I gave up trying to connect with you. Its the Asperger's. You simply can't understand people, and if you did, you wouldn't know how to relate. You need to just be alone with you... and I doubt whether you even understand yourself. If you did, well, maybe you would understand why nobody else likes you.... besides Candid... and look how much you appreciated that.
