The real issue for me is, at some near point, I'm resuming clinical psychology and any hint of "weed" isn't likely to get the readership I seek.

That makes sense. The new forum's name is misleading, since the sections are all the same as here and at this stage the bulk of the discussion doesn't mention weed or PAWS.

I remember not long before the UF closure was announced thinking there'd end up nothing but PAWS sufferers and the inconsolable desperate788 here. It's a shame you missed its heyday.

I hope to find a serious platform for psychology. I must admit I noticed a real decline in reaearch everywhere. Even my old lecturers seem to discuss mostly routine affairs such as raffles or the weather. I am convinced the internet has eroded intellectual capacity on a global level. It was what Einstein predicted would happen.

I agree with you! and it starts in primary school, where the children get good marks just for showing up, and if the teachers make any comments at all on work handed in they usually prove to be illiterate themselves.

A cursory glance suggests https://psychologyforum.com/ might work for you. There are bigshop79 ads all over it, but if it works like UF you won't see them once you sign up.

I've enjoyed our discussions, won't forget the couple of pages about our respective dogs, and I wish you well.

Internet hasn't eroded anything. The Internet is a tool. I have profited immensely in gaining knowledge through my using the tool called the Internet. Others use it wastefully, as most people are not very bright.

It is analogous to the discovery of fire by man. Using fire for good like heating a building, no problem. When this discovery was applied to the food that man ate, that was his downfall, and he is still experiencing the downfall through fired foods. I know that you'll completely disagree.

Einstein was a fraud.

I did, then for some reason it let you out again... I missed nothing of worth. You're still talking b*****ks but at least you acknowledge the internet and the knowledge you have gained through it. As for Einstein being a fraud??? Wow
The world according to the crank QV.. . You couldn't make this sh** up, but somehow you do.
P.s I have tried blocking you again, but thankfully you'll be gone in a day or two.

What do you mean by that I "acknowledge the internet . . . ."?

What is the problem, I don't get it, "at least I acknowledge the information I got from the internet"?????????? What the actual F.

Are you going to let us know you are alive and well on Sept. 11, 2022?

That was what you stated.... if you argue it's not the same thing as your post above questions, then it's semantics.
Earlier in the thread you dismissed the internet.

Why is using the Internet a problem? I fully stand by what I said. I don't see that using the Internet is a problem. It is a communications platform. What is wrong with that???

The problem is 95 per cent of people use internet wrongly. First problem = they reference quick information but don't analyse, solve, or struggle.
To work your brain means complex problem solving. Maths is pretty good for that.
I repeat: Opening some page and rapidly posting copied texts as fact is very bad.
Added to that. Before anything else, basic knowledge of proven history, maths, linguistics and so on is essential. Conspiracy leaders I encountered were making claims about Israel's history, absolutely removed from historical legacy and archeology. There wasn't even engagement or recognition of sources.
Also, the internet promotes the concept that like = fact. That's why people press like buttons. Worryingly, that's a known defect of Schizophrenia termed "ambivalence". This means preferred reality over-rules hard reality. Example, we know jogging on a treadmill is unpleasant and hard work but some of us "know" this exercise burns fat, reduces cardio risk and is healthy. Yet, the net programs people to dismiss what they don't like. "I don't like exercise so that means it's no good."
Not in real life.
The internet became the equivalent lazy influence on the brain as cars and buses are to the body. Ancient peoples weren't fat and used their own mental resources far more.
My own theory is internet can cause premature dementia and probably triggered the Covid hysteria nonsense.

Einstein by the way worked out relativity all through physics and maths. He didn't use actual experiments. Speed of light he took as a maximum value and, so far, it does appear to hold ground. It can be worked out why time is relative according to velocity. The speed of a ball thrown from Jack to Jill on a shuttle travelling at 300,000,000 metres per second is only relative. To people on earth the speed of the ball is a whole new equation. To understand Einstein it's necessary to study physics and maths.

Yes, it was. I'm not going to go find it, but if you want to know the context of the comment, go find out what the context of the comment was.

Hey, man! I've got a question for you . . . .

Did you find that "fact checker" on the INTERNET? !!!!

Here's the context. You refuse to use the Internet to do research. Yet, if the official and approved-for-public-view Fact Checker is on the Internet, then it's okay to use that information.

See the sarcasm, or not?

Folks, Uncommonforum is shutting down in just 2 days. Here are some resources to keep in touch:

Uncommonforum Mirror: https://uncommonforumarchive.com/

Uncommonforum replacement: https://forum.weedpaws.net/

The mirror is a full copy of the forum archived in another website. It will let you browse all past posts made on Uncommonforum.

The replacement is a forum that resembles very closely what Uncommonforum is. You can use this to stay in touch with the UCF community.

(Sorry for disturbing your discussions.)

Best of luck to all,

9MQ
