Not sure if I am just sick or bulimic

Postby kmp2013 » Tue Apr 05, 2011 1:55 am

Last year I was sick for a while, not able to each much and whatever I ate I could not keep down. In May I ended up getting my gaul bladder removed and for a little while I was okay. After a few months though I went back to not able to eat and throwing up. Now I get so nuatious I can't stand it and just force myself to throw up to make it go away. I have been back to the docter and she told me it is just ibs. I just don't know if I am actually bulimic because I do force myself to throw up but only when I cannot handle the sickness and I do not eat very much. In the last two to three weeks I have lost over 15 lbs. I'm worried even though I have the weight to lose but I know that bulimia is dangerous. I just don't want to worry my mom if it turns out it is just ibs or something like that. I am going back to docter over spring break which is in three weeks because I cannot miss anymore school.

That sounds miserable!
Frankly, I don't think you have bulimia bc you apparently have control over your purging behavior. The prging is an indicator of what sounds like a pretty serious GI condition. IBS is such a convienent "catch all" diagnosis. It drives me crazy! Any strange GI issues that are even the slightest bit mysterious are easily dismissed by pratitioners as being IBS. I was told I had IBS and was deathly ill for three years before I found someone who would take the time and trouble to investigate my symptoms and it turned out to be food allergies! I eliminated soy and dairy (allergic to the protiens) and was completely healthy within six months. That lame IBS crap diagnosis took three years of funtioning from my life! :?

So not saying you don't have IBS, but that ime it warrants getting other opinions. You could try meeting up with a registered dietician or someone who specializes in nutrition. And def get another dr.s opinion.

I found this symptoms of bulimia at helpguide:

* Are you obsessed with your body and your weight?
* Does food and dieting dominate your life?
* Are you afraid that when you start eating, you won’t be able to stop?
* Do you ever eat until you feel sick?
* Do you feel guilty, ashamed, or depressed after you eat?
* Do you vomit or take laxatives to control your weight?

If you say yes to most of them, you may have bulimia.

But I think your doctor is right. You may just have IBS.

Im not really sure whats wrong with me. I am in a very serious relationship with a wondeful woman. There are just times where I feel like I am not being thought of. The feelings are so overwhelming and I feel like I am gonna lose it. Shaking/nervousness/panicing and almost total control of my body.

For example, my lady came home from a long trip. I met her at the airport and we made our way home. On the way home she wanted to stop off at the local shop to get some milk. I waited outside the shop thinking she was gonna be fast. She began talking with the 2 guys working at the counter. I waited for literally over 5 minutes while my lady talked away and I started to get overwhelmed. I decided to take my ladies luggage up to her apt, which was a few doors down and dropped off her bags. I couldnt beleieve that she was leaving me out there on the street while she talked away. I then went downstairs and she was still talking with the 2 guys. I was a total wreck and when my lady walked outside I was extremely loaded or upset with her. She felt I was being unreasonable. I had a complete anxiety attack so much that I can feel it now, just thinking about it.

Does anyone know whats wrong with me?

Try smoking cannabis, only the highest quality weed you can find though. In the medical community, this is its' primary purpose, to induce hunger and appetite, which is why it is mostly prescribed to Cancer / HIV patients (at least in Canada, we're I'm from).

Do some reading and give it a thought, if you haven't tried before. It wouldn't hurt to try once to see if it indeed keeps your food down, which seems to be your number one problem, and I can almost guarantee it will help.

Learn more about the foods you eat. Do certain foods causes you to want to purge? Make a food journal and don't eat foods that make you want to purge.
