Hi, I’m Richard. I was born in South Carolina. My family was military, so we moved around every few years. Over the last 6 years I’ve been living a mobile lifestyle, living out of a carryon bag.
Did I mention anything about my previous health problems? Did I mention any past traumas in the above introduction? Did I lie? No.
Your previous problems don’t define you. You are much more and have other stories to offer. Everyone does.
For toastmasters use the who, what, where, when, why, and how strategy. Write an introduction about yourself and don’t include any previous problems. Another way to think about it is like a resume for work or a dating profile. You don’t lie, but you tell people positive stories about who you are, what you like to do, when and where you like to do it, why and how.
