I want to know what emotional arousal means.

I see you all talking about emotional arousal and I have no idea what it means. I am not a depressed person I am just trying to help my girl friend and help me understand what is going on.

One more question if anyone knows. What causes phycosis? I think I spelled it correctly. I am not a good speller. I am hoping that it is depression. My girl friend has to take medication for that to.

Hi Jared and welcome to UncommonForum!

'Emotional arousal' simply means 'being emotional'. In depression this is most often anxiety, and sometimes anger.

It has been postulated recently that psychosis is a REM disorder; that the sufferer is 'dreaming with their eyes open' due to an overload of REM requirement caused by too much emotional arousal.
