Life is so hard and i don’t know what to do

Alfie,

Thanks for sharing with us and being brave and honest about your anxiety. You are not alone; there are many people, including myself, that have been at the hard end of anxiety.

Of course, the question is how to get some relief from all the feelings and fears that surround us when in an anxiety state.

Some of the strategies are already happening for you, having the physical tests and looking for medication that works. Another useful thing is to find a counsellor who specialises in anxiety and talk about a long term plan for coping day to day.

You mentioned laying on your bed and breathing. It took me a while to master this, after giving up a few times. I lay on the bed, maybe with a pillow under my knees, and breath to the count of 4. Breathe 4 in, hold for 4, 4 out, hold for 4. It might take 20 minutes or so, and then the breathing and heart rate slows, legs and arms feel heavier, anxiety eases. It happens quickly when the anxiety goes, once we get the knack of doing it. Maybe worth another try?

I hope you find some relief soon and please feel free to post here about anything that happens.

Good thoughts to you,

Alex.
