Omega fish oils with high EPA are probably recommended. Also if you are female oil of evening primrose and agnus castus could be beneficial. B vitamins are also likely to be helpful. Some people also take magnesium as a supplement. Talk to your doctor about this or a nutritional practitioner.

Hi Maz and Cannella - just to say hi and to let you know that I am thinking of you. Maz I totally can relate to how you are feeling and it is in fact a living hell. I am sorry that meds haven't helped you - perhaps you should review this with your GP to see if there is anything that would help. Beta...

HI undertow I hope that you are starting to feel better. I can't comment on Cymbalta as I have never been on it however I can comment on how you are feeling about taking meds at 30 as I am in the same boat. The way I look on it is that if I had say a thyroid gland issue I would be prescribed thyroxi...

HI Hulagirl It defo is a good idea to write down all of your symptoms. Firstly ask for a blood work profile to check that there is no underlying issue causing the anxiety such as hormones or thyroid issues. If there is any problem they are usually easy to correct. In all honesty the dr is likely to ...

Hi Moorcrod In relation to your problem with eating - don't give yourself a hard tie about this - I stopped eating for 2 months which wasn't great but the best thing to do is to get someone to get you Complan or a supplement drink so that you are getting the nutrients that you need until you start f...

Hi Moorcrod Presumably you are on meds for the thyroid condition? They should help after a short time. I know that anxiety is crippling although you are (I think) one of the luckier ones on here (I know sorry that sounds flippant but the reason I say that is that there is a biological reason and pro...

Hi Daisy - I am sorry to hear you are ill again although it is exactly what happened to me when I went off my meds due to pregnancy. I would say that side effects actually were worse for me the second time round and I don't know why as I thought my body and brain would have been used to the meds but...

Hi Nito You can get Rhodolia from any good health shop - I would recommend that you talk to a health care practitioner. I know that Solgar do Rhodolia and you can buy it on the net too. There are of course other brands however that just happened to be the one I bought. Yes Seta I did of course read ...

Why on earth are you mentioning homosexuality alongside depression and disorders Seta? Back to Rhodiola - I have heard that it is effective for anxiety and that it increases serotonin in the brain - it is a herb as far as I know. Other options on the supplement front could be the amino acid L-Theani...

HI Yes my experience with Citalopram was a major initial increase in anxiety - it is well known and sometimes your GP / Psych will provide a short dose of benzos t get over the difficult initial period although of course these can be addictive in the longterm. I am on 30mg of Cipralex at the minute ...

HI Mirtzapine had no effect for me - it was not a positive drug for me at all - I put on weight and ate for Ireland and had suicidal thoughts. The drug that has helped me with anxiety is Cipralex. Everyone is different though of course and some people have been helped by Mirtazapine or Zispin as it ...

Hi DaisyJane I am on Cipralex and it has really helped me/ I had minor initial side effects (much better than the Citalopram I was initially on) and things settled quickly. I had been seriously ill (should have been hospitalised) and now I am out and about again on Cipralex. It has been said that it...
