I guess arm catalepsy is just a convincer.
I believe when the subject have and experience his eye locked THE Hypnotist grows a bit and then when he experience arm catalepsy and and stiff arm THE hypnotist gets much more bigger, also the subject self-confidence grows a lot.

So it worth to do.
