I would suggest reminding your client/patient/self just how easy and natural amnesia is, before you give suggestions to utilize it. It happens to everyone after all. Have you ever seen someone you know and for the life of you, you just can not remember their name, and then some time after they're go...

I was just wondering if you could create the 'illusion of rapport' by pretending, instead of true rapport? or does rapport only happen on a sub-concious level and need to be real to exist? An example being someone you have reservations about wants to be Hypnotised!? This is how I read into the firs...

@Steve

Yes, you can fake it, the key is to be congruent. Just in case that Chase quote is accurate I'll add that people like people who are *like* them. If you can't find something you have in common, by all means feel free to fake it, just stay congruent.

Consider this a great learning opportunity! You have a bunch of people who are absolutely convinced that you can easily trance them, figure out ways you can use that. Maybe a non-verbal/'That's Right' induction. Hell given that level of their paranoia/belief try sneaking up behind one of them and ju...

Maybe for some, that is not universally true though. My goal regarding meditation is relaxation, not enlightenment.

Re: 2 training courses later, and all the books...???

Great post, Lee! I'm genuinely impressed by your refreshing honesty. Don't forget me , mate. Every time you need a confidence boost, come back on this forum and read my post about the time you stole my number! :wink: I really think that too much training can actually be bad for some people. Just on...

Maybe it's a manifestation of black/white thinking and they're worried because they don't know the 'right way' to go into trance. I thought black and white thinking made people less analytical; i.e. they no longer see ranges of options but only two extremes. It could be that they are in black and w...

It is also possible that someone is analytical simply because they have a very nosy conscious mind, or maybe they were brought up thinking that the conscious mind is the only real mind, or something along that line. Of course it's also possible that our hypothetical someone has no idea why they are ...

It seems that meditation is more neutral - either quieting the mind or just noticing your thoughts pass by. Self-hypnosis is more suggestive with a goal in mind...trying to fill up the mind with what you want. I would tend to agree. I would say the main difference is that meditation is non-directio...

Hey! Glad to hear that you've managed to get past that barrier! So...what has Liz made you do? :twisted: I admire Jon Chase but I'm afraid that on this particular subject I seriously disagree. I was one of his 20% once, as in nothing hypnotic had any effect on me whatsoever. I was hypnotising others...

Add in some analogue marking and I think it would be even more effective. Especially if you continue by letting them know the kinds of things that could happen (generally indicators of developing trance). I thought there was loads of analogue marking in their already. An analytical mind will pick u...

I'm not sure if this will help clarify things but I figure it's worth a shot. Trance is like motion, every able-bodied person can (and does) move to some degree. Running (and finishing) a marathon is a different story though, which might require training/assistance. Some people are naturals, they're...

In a moment we're going to begin to teach your mind how to go into a deep trance. I am going to talk to you about trance and relaxation, and the more thoroughly your mind is focused on these ideas, the faster it will find out how to make the trance happen all by itself. [This is just your average i...

I'm going to skip the first two things you mentioned, the last one, however, is called Deep Trance Identification or DTI. DTI has uses in both therapy and entertainment. For example, let's say a person wants more choice in their behavior, currently they lack confidence in social situations and they ...
