Re: bullying people before you start to hypnotize them?

Being assertive as a hypnotist can help if the other person responds well to that. At the very least, confidence is extremely valuable. I think pretty much nobody responds well to bullying, or at least it will sour their relationship with the hypnotist. Personally I wouldn't chance it, plus it's not...

Re: Introduce yourself...

I registered a few months ago with an email that will soon be inactive. One company bought out by another company and many changes are upcoming. Is there a way to keep my username and change the email, or would I have to re-register with a new email and new username? Sure! Go to "User Control ...

Re: what is the (subliminal) goal of a conversation ?

I don't know, to me comfort is not necessarily just the total absence of discomfort. The assumption here is that once all negatives have been removed, change is no longer possible. The way I see it, the absence of negatives still allows for adding more positives. I admit that this is a smallish dist...

Re: what is the (subliminal) goal of a conversation ?

I wouldn't say all action is driven by discomfort. If you look at a "hierarchy of needs" kind of construct, removing discomfort would be one big driver, and as more and more discomfort gets eliminated, striving for new things (which is not necessarily based on discomfort) becomes more of a...

Re: what is the (subliminal) goal of a conversation ?

To take a more systemic view, another purpose is to establish/deepen a shared context and thus a relationship.

Re: Hypnotic mind control

Let me first state that I have never believed in hypnotism, I thought stage hypnotism was all complete BS. Quite understandable, the stories are a bit too fantastical, after all, aren't they? And stage hypnotists do tend to cheat a lot: firstly, they prefer to use people who respond particularly ea...

Re: Can conversational hypnosis help people achieve "impossi

what else might we use? How about sarcasm? Just a random idea that magicked its way into my mind... By the way, I'm pretty sure the canonical name is "charm" and not "charm spell". I can recommend a 7-set of excellent Bloomsbury textbooks on the subject, covering entry-level spe...

Re: Can conversational hypnosis help people achieve "impossi

Two things: 1) Don't spend too much time on the Peliari stuff. I had the dubious chance of fighting my way through it once, and though there are some insightful elements in it, the majority of the explanations is doubtful even by standards in the hypnosis community. He seems to think minds work like...

Re: Becoming jaded about hypnosis

(Gosh, I haven't visited in a while...) Absolutely, it's kind of an unfair question. It's obvious that you want to make some changes in your life, and it's just as understandable that you'd like a little help from something as awesome sounding as hypnosis. Let's just take that as it is and go from t...

Re: trying to understand what hypnosis/trance is - opinions

Your analysis is a very reasonable interpretation of hypnosis. Of course there are quite a few different ones... I find that it helps to be familiar with a bunch, so you can kind of get an understanding of hypnosis that combines all aspects in all of the interpretations, even if you might not be abl...

Re: I tend to wake myself up while in trances— any advice?

I don't necessarily agree with Roady's take on this. It's a possibility, sure, but sometimes an increasing heart rate is just excitement. :) The good news is that trance is actually quite different from sleep. It's absolutely possible to be in an "excited trance state", so don't worry too ...

Re: Forget something done in the past...

Well, suppose Mr X finds a hypnotist who does remove that part of the memory, and he does indeed forget that the event happened... but all the negative emotions are still there! The memory is gone, but its aftermath stayed around. That's not really what you'd call a good result, right? What I guess ...

Re: Better to use 'You' or 'I' for Self Hypnosis

Simply use whatever you like better when listening to it. That's pretty much all that matters.

Re: suffering need help

My advice is: don't think about those kinds of memories too much. Maybe they have something to do with the way you feel, maybe they don't... but in either case, going through the memories over and over probably won't help you. People tend to think that these types of feelings mean there's something ...

Re: Soreness during hypnosis

Hi there, and welcome to the forum! Without being there with you I can only make guesses. Here are some: Many, many people carry a lot of tension around with them. The neck and upper back are prime candidates for this. If you have a base level of tension at all times, you don't even notice this tens...
