Re: The Rewiring Project: Dealing with PAWS

Hey Bones! Yes, a therapist is good advice. I have been seriously considering it and would offer the same advice to anyone. I've sat with a counselor before, when I was unemployed and virtually homeless... It basically amounted to a pep talk each week, but it did help a bit. He wasn't a psychiatrist...

Re: The Rewiring Project: Dealing with PAWS

Hello All, This is my 4 month update as I am now into my 5th month being THC free. My quit day was Feb 19th. I say THC free because I have been Vaping CBD only oil (0% THC), and a bit of 30:1 CBD:THC ratio flower beginning early May. It helps a bit for quieting the mind and relaxing me. It works wel...

Re: Quit weed 2,5 months ago. Hasn´t gone so well

Hi dariaengse - I'm curious which antidepressant you are on and if you have any sexual side effects? Congrats on going on one year. I agree that meds aren't a long-term solution, but sometimes you need a step down to help deal with the PAWS. Hopefully your brain can continue to rewire while on the m...

Re: Finally giving up the habit

I am between you both in regards to age (48) and length of quit (13 weeks). Sounds like all three of us were fairly heavy users, at least I know I was, not for the entire 30 years of use, but definitely for the last 5 or so. I too have a lifetime of unfinished projects and a current backlog of thing...

Re: ready to give up giving up !

Hi Mary, Hope you had a good meeting with your counselor. I did talk therapy about 4 years ago when I was unemployed and very depressed due to circumstances in my life. It did help. It's useful to have a someone help talk through issues you are going through. Sometimes there's a eureka moment, but m...

Re: 10 months update

"....I do not feel pleasure like I use to. I know this is affecting my motivation...." This is PAWS in a nutshell, and depression and anxiety ensue. I am at 3 months myself and have all the same symptoms. I never liked the "Fake it til you Make it" advice, as, I too thought it di...

Re: The Rewiring Project: Dealing with PAWS

Thanks Backatit, and congrats on your quit. A year and a half is incredible! "Setting and accomplishing goals no matter how small" This is huge. With receptors that are struggling without Dopamine, reward seeking behavior is is so hard to do. And it figures, since there is very little rewa...

Re: The Rewiring Project: Dealing with PAWS

Hey everyone! I've had a stretch of about 5 good days in a row and wanted to report it. I think folks here dealing with PAWS have the urge to post when things are bad and perhaps not so much when things are good, which is understandable, but it gives readers a bit of a skewed perspective on what's a...

Re: Your baked brain.

Great Post ExStoner! I thought it deserved to be kicked up to the top for anyone new who may have missed it originally, like me. I like the distinction you make between the brain and the mind and your post is packed with lots of great analogies. Hope you are able to ride a good wave on your way to r...

Re: My quit Journal

Great posts. Glad you are seeing the progress, however painstakingly slow. I think how you are detailing and monitoring your progress is a great idea and a great example for others. More than just a journal, it's like your dashboard to recovery. Being self aware is so important through all this. Sou...

Re: The Rewiring Project: Dealing with PAWS

UPDATE: Almost 90 Days Off THC My 3 month anniversary will be in a few days, but I thought I'd post today since I've been struggling. I had a pretty good week last week, but the last few days have been a dark wave. From what I've read here, 3 months seems to be a real struggle for a lot of folks. My...

Re: CBD for THC Withdrawal / PAWS

Hi MJN, Thanks for the post. The way CBD interacts with the brain is really fascinating stuff. CBD is kinda like an Anandamide Reuptake Inhibitor, and I've learned that OXYTOCIN uses Anandamide to do it's thing. Unlike THC it makes people *less* anxious and *more* sociable. All that AND it has neuro...

Re: Quitting smoking weed after 31 years

Hi SQL!

I'm a guy, but other than that our stats are similar.. I'm 48, live where it is legal, and have smoked for 30 years, culminating with about an OZ / month habit.

This forum is great. Read the stories, have faith, and know you are not alone in your journey.

Best of luck and stay strong!
